Tootbus and VEV Partner to Electrify London’s Sightseeing Fleet

In a significant step towards greener tourism, Tootbus, a leading international sightseeing bus operator, has joined forces with VEV, an e-fleet solutions provider backed by energy giant Vitol, to electrify its operations in London. This collaboration marks a milestone in Tootbus's commitment to sustainability and underscores the growing trend of electrification in the transportation sector.

Tootbus has been on a green journey since 2021 when it made the switch to HVO fuel, resulting in an impressive 90% reduction in CO2 emissions. Now, with the support of VEV, it is transitioning to the next phase by integrating electric vehicles (EVs) into its fleet. The partnership aims to develop a comprehensive plan for fleet electrification, starting with the conversion of three existing vehicles to EVs and the installation of the first 10 EV chargers.

Subject to planning permission and surveys, VEV plans to install solar power generation facilities at the Tootbus Wandsworth depot. This initiative is projected to generate 65,000 kWh of renewable energy, which could power 60,000 kilometres of sightseeing bus travel annually. Not only will this make Tootbus's operations 100% green, but it will also alleviate the strain on the National Grid.
