Uniper Unveils Ambitious Hydrogen Hub Project in the Humber, UK

He highlighted the critical role of technologies like low-carbon hydrogen and carbon capture in ensuring energy security for the UK while meeting the needs of the transport sector and supply chain.
Guy Phillips, Team Lead of Business Development Hydrogen at Uniper UK, expressed optimism about the Killingholme site's potential to support the UK's hydrogen and decarbonisation objectives. Leveraging existing utilities infrastructure and strategic location within the Humber region's industrial cluster, the project aims to create new high-skilled employment opportunities and bolster the regional economy.
The significance of the Killingholme site cannot be overstated. With its robust infrastructure, including grid connections, demineralised water, and cooling systems from existing power plants, the site is poised to play a pivotal role in Uniper's hydrogen hub ambitions. Moreover, Uniper's broader strategy of establishing "Energy Transformation Hubs" across Europe underscores its commitment to driving innovation and sustainability at scale.
Uniper's track record of innovation extends beyond the UK. With Energy Transformation Hubs already operational in Germany, the Netherlands, and Sweden, the company is at the forefront of driving decarbonisation efforts across Europe.
