Wallbox and Osprey Partner to Expand EV Charging Network in the UK

In a significant move to enhance electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the United Kingdom, Wallbox, a leading provider of EV charging and energy management solutions, has announced a strategic partnership with Osprey, a prominent player in the charging network industry. This collaboration marks a crucial step towards making reliable and convenient EV charging more accessible to consumers, ultimately accelerating the transition to zero-emission transport.

The partnership's primary initiative involves expanding the Osprey network with 125 units of Wallbox's Supernova DC rapid charger, complemented by the WBX care program, which offers both preventative and corrective maintenance for the Supernova fleet. Charge point availability and reliability are fundamental to instilling confidence in electric vehicle owners, and this collaboration aims to address these key concerns.

Wallbox's Supernova rapid charger is designed with a modular approach, prioritising a simple, user-centric experience and payment process. This design not only ensures ease of use for EV drivers but also maintains a high standard of reliability. For charge point operators, the modular design allows for easy scalability, facilitating improvements in charge point availability. This scalability aspect is essential for meeting the growing demand for electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Phil Bond, DC Key Account Manager UK+IE, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are excited to partner with Osprey to offer EV drivers across the UK access to a reliable DC charging network." The first 125 Supernova rapid chargers will be deployed in more than 15 locations across the UK, providing a widespread and accessible charging solution for electric vehicle users.

Osprey, a company committed to expanding the EV charging network in the UK, is equally excited about this collaboration. Lewis Gardiner, Head of Operations at Osprey Charging Network, noted, "Our partnership with Wallbox enables us to increase the number of rapid chargers we can easily install at locations with low-voltage connections." Wallbox's Supernova rapid charger aligns perfectly with Osprey's needs for power availability, ease of installation, and maintenance. It also promises a seamless experience for customers, further enhancing the electric vehicle charging experience.

The first chargers installed as part of this groundbreaking collaboration have already gone live at the Towneley Garden Centre in Burnley, setting the stage for a broader and more accessible EV charging network in the UK. This initiative is a significant step toward making EVs more appealing and practical for consumers by addressing two of the most critical factors in EV adoption: accessibility and reliability.
