LCP and PoGo Collaborate to Roll Out Ultra-Rapid EV Charging Network Across the UK

In a strategic move towards bolstering the electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in the UK, commercial property firm LCP has joined forces with ultra-rapid EV charge point operator PoGo. The partnership aims to install 329 ultra-rapid DC charging units at 89 key retail developments across England, Scotland, and Wales. PoGo will fully fund each installation, demonstrating a commitment to accelerating the adoption of EVs and supporting the nation's transition to cleaner transport solutions.

The project will see the deployment of PoGo's latest charging technology, the PoGo Touch, renowned for its exceptional charging speeds ranging from 50 to 600kW. These units are set to become one of the fastest charging options available in the UK, marking a significant step towards reducing charging times and enhancing the convenience for EV users.

The PoGo Touch is not just a charging station; it boasts a 32-inch touch screen, providing users with tariff and payment information. Additionally, the screen serves as a platform for local retailers to promote in-store discounts and other incentives, fostering collaboration between EV charging and local businesses.

Commencing in the first quarter of 2024, the installation project is expected to span 18 months. The charging units will be strategically placed at retail developments within LCP and Evolve managed portfolios, ensuring widespread accessibility for EV users. The initiative aligns with the urgent need for a robust and extensive EV charging infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of electric vehicles on the road.

James Buchanan, group managing director of LCP Group, expressed confidence in the partnership, stating that customers at their retail sites would gain access to 329 safe and convenient chargers, providing a solution for 658 EV users. Emphasising the importance of contributing to the nationwide EV charging network, Buchanan highlighted LCP's commitment to playing a role in preparing the UK for the future of clean transportation.

Stuart Douglas, Managing Director of PoGo, echoed Buchanan's sentiments, emphasising the reliability of PoGo's technology and operational delivery as crucial factors in securing the partnership. Douglas described the collaboration as a "perfect example" of two organisations aligning their ambitions to deliver the right infrastructure in the right locations for the benefit of the community.

Daniel Rainsden, property cost controller for LCP, underscored the company's commitment to sustainable practices and its pivotal role in fostering a cleaner air environment. Rainsden expressed confidence that the collaboration with PoGo would not only meet the growing demand for EV charging but also contribute positively to the communities surrounding LCP's retail developments. The initiative reflects a broader industry trend where companies are increasingly integrating sustainability into their business practices.
