AJR Trucking Order 50 Nikola Tre Hydrogen FCEVs

AJR Trucking has placed an order for 50 Nikola Tre hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) trucks. Tom's Truck Centres will deliver the vehicles between Q4 2023 and Q1 2024 through Nikola's sales and service dealer network. AJR Trucking and Nikola will collaborate to explore opportunities to deploy Nikola's 10,000 psi (700 bar) mobile fuelling solution at AJR's facilities in Compton and Santa Clarita, California to provide fuelling for the FCEVs.

Tom's Truck Centres will support AJR Trucking in securing its voucher application to the Hybrid and Zero Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP) program by CARB, which may lead to $270,000 per FCEV in point-of-sale incentives and an additional $40,000 in federal tax credits via the Inflation Reduction Act.

According to Jack Khudikyan, the owner of AJR Trucking, "We are confident the future of trucking is zero emissions, and based upon our operational needs, the Nikola Tre FCEVs were the only tailpipe emission vehicles that could meet our range, performance, and cost targets."

AJR Trucking has been involved in mail hauling operations for USPS for over 30 years and had previously pioneered compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks in operation in 2022. Now, it views FCEVs as the next step forward due to their zero tailpipe emissions, long range, and fast fuelling times.
