Used Vans with Low Mileage are Now Low Selling

Used van dealers have reported a decline in sales that is predicted to continue according to statistics from Glass’s Guide.

It appears that the reason for the decline is that customers are looking to purchase vans that have a mileage of 40,000 to 50,000 miles a better investment as opposed to those with lower mileages. According to some customers, lower mileage vans are too expensive and higher mileage brings about extra problems that can be costly. Chief CV editor George Alexander said that there is a high number of LCVs being sold at auction with not enough buyers in the market leading to a lull which has had an effect on prices of vans.

Large panel vans appear to be in high demand and sell particularly well at auctions as they are renowned for good quality. Alexander adds: “While almost every older 3.5 tonne van offered at auction is tatty, even high mileage examples of Sprinters in particular and most Transits seem to sell effortlessly. However, Ducato, Boxer and Movano heavy vans with high mileage struggle to convince buyers that they have similar durability.”
