Online Shoppers Left in the Dark with Deliveries

A survey conducted from parcel delivery giants DPD discovered that many online shoppers say they are left not knowing when their purchases will be delivered.

The survey that interviewed 2,000 UK adults discovered that one in three people often don’t hear anything about the delivery date of their parcel until it arrives. 43% of shoppers said that they would like a more accurate date of delivery and 91% would be happy to receive emails or texts with delivery times, with 51% of online shoppers said that they would prefer their deliveries to include a time of delivery (preferably and hour window) so that they could ensure that they are in to receive their goods. Worryingly, only 46% of customers have experienced a timely delivery.

From the results, DPD’s chief executive officer Dwain McDonald said that "Delivery is an integral part of e-retailing, playing a crucial role in the overall customer experience. For some shoppers restricted or costly delivery options, or poor communication can make or break a sale, but, a good experience will enhance the e-tailer's reputation, build customer loyalty and in turn help drive more sales."
