Yeardley Criticises Euro VI on Limited Supplies
Brian Yeardley Continental has voiced their disappointment over the delay that Mercedes are experiencing in their delivery of the new Euro VI trucks.
Kevin Hopper, the Yeardley MD said that they wanted to trial Scania, Iveco and Volvo from May/ June 2013 before placing a potential order in September to replace their 12 existing trucks in 2014. It was only Volvo who was able to deliver a Euro VI that Yeardley had specified before the end of 2013 and even this would not be available until August and a spokesman for Volvo confirmed that the Euro VI would not be available until the end of July. An Iveco spokesman said that right-hand drive order entry would not begin until June with a lead time of 3 months later.
Yeardley has instead opted for the Euro V EEV model trucks from the three manufacturers for a three month trial to investigate fuel efficiency and reliability alongside the Euro V DAF they have had since 2012.
