PM Promises to reconsider fuel duty in rural areas

Recently appointed Prime Minister David Cameron made a promise last July that the government is seriously considering reducing fuel duty in rural areas before VAT increases to 20% on 1 January 2011.

Pilots planned for Scotland will hopefully demonstrated that the feasibility of reducing fuel duty in specific geographic locations is tangible and the projects will be worked on during the summer recess and could take place before the end of the year.

Speaking in the House of Commons on Wednesday (14 July), Cameron told MPs: "I know that the issue will be considered seriously and that discussions will be had."... cfs_newsroom
