'Truck Watch' scheme to target freight crime

A new ‘Truck Watch’ scheme has been developed by Police Forces and Haulage companies in the North West region to help combat freight crime.

Recent figures by Truckpol, the national police unit dedicated to fighting freight crime, show Lancashire as this year’s hotspot for crime in the region. In total the county has had 57 reported incidents during the period of January to August this year, ranging from siphoning of diesel, hijacking, thefts of HGV’s and stolen cargo.
